Keep Your Eyes on the Target Like a Fish, Anupriya Patel Tells Party Workers

Lucknow: Apna Dal (S) national president Anupriya Patel  urged party workers to remain focused on their electoral goals, comparing their commitment to the unwavering focus of a fish on its target. She was addressing an organisational review meeting at the party’s camp office in Lucknow to assess preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The meeting focused on strengthening the party organisation, booth-level management and assigning responsibilities to office-bearers and workers. Patel called for a 100 per cent strike rate on seats contested by the party and stressed the need to strengthen its presence at the grassroots level.

Speaking to reporters, she described Apna Dal (S) as a reliable NDA ally and expressed confidence in the alliance’s prospects in the 2027 elections. She said the party’s objective was to ensure the NDA returned to power in Uttar Pradesh, irrespective of which alliance partner contested a particular seat. She emphasised that workers would strive to secure victories for NDA candidates across all constituencies.

Patel also criticised opposition parties for questioning the Election Commission, electoral rolls and the election process after electoral defeats. She questioned why the process was challenged when the NDA secured victories but accepted when opposition parties formed governments in states such as Kerala, Karnataka, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh. She alleged that opposition parties had created confusion during the 2024 elections and claimed that voters had become more aware of such tactics.

During the review meeting, Patel assigned specific responsibilities to party functionaries and stressed that organisational shortcomings at any level must be addressed. She called on workers to expand the party’s presence in every village, neighbourhood and polling booth, saying no settlement should remain untouched by the organisation’s outreach.

Encouraging workers not to be distracted by criticism or attacks from political opponents, she urged them to maintain their focus on the party’s objectives. Patel also directed party members and social media teams to maintain decorum in public speeches, meetings and online communications, emphasising discipline, positivity and responsible language as essential to the party’s identity.
